About

A Project Years in the Making

Horizon is a studio project that brings together some of Australia’s most respected musicians, featuring the final recordings of the late Stuart Fraser. Led by composer and singer-songwriter Lee Bradshaw, Horizon represents a two-decade journey of collaboration, perseverance, and artistic evolution.

The origins of Horizon trace back to Lee Bradshaw’s early work in the late 1990s, when he began exploring new musical ideas under the name Sable Ash. Over the years, the project evolved, bringing together key musicians who helped shape its sound. The turning point came in 2009, when Lee and bassist Rich Panaia travelled from Western Australia to Melbourne to record at Armstrong Studios, joining forces with Stuart Fraser and Angus Burchall for the first time.

This collaboration was the beginning of a musical brotherhood, leading to a series of studio recordings that captured the raw energy and chemistry of the group. By 2015, with the addition of Brett Garsed on guitar, who had been recording with the project since 2009, the band had refined its sound, delivering some of its most powerful recordings to date.

The Album That Waited

Although the album was completed in 2017, the release was delayed due to various circumstances, including Stuart Fraser’s declining health. In late 2019, Stuart sadly passed away, leaving behind an incredible musical legacy. Out of deep respect for Stuart and his contribution to the project, the decision was made to wait until the right time to share these recordings with the world.

With the blessing of Stuart’s family, the Horizon album will finally be released in 2025, marking a significant moment not only for the band but for Australian music. These recordings stand as Stuart’s final studio performances, making the album a tribute to his influence and artistry.
